Multi Snow Plow X-Line was an aha experience for Bertil Carlsson

Bertil Carlsson from Lycksele has been driving machines all his life. He started driving for his father's construction company at the age of 13. For 35 years he has worked as a machine operator at Hägglunds Last & Schakt, driving wheel loaders, excavators, graders and lorries.

A large part of Bertil's work in winter consists of snow clearing and ploughing. The first time he tried Siljum's Multi Snow Plow X-Line from Fronteq, it was an eye-opener.

– When I got to test Siljum's Multi Snow Plow X-Line five years ago, I had an aha experience. It became a completely different world with ploughing. At once I got a lot more to conjure with, says Bertil Carlsson.

The wheel loader that Bertil uses for plowing is a Cat 930M with a 14-ton machine weight that is equipped with Siljum's largest Multi Snow Plow 5400 X-Line.
– We started with a Multi Snow Plow and for this season have bought another one of the same model because we got more ploughing work now, says Bertil.

What is the best thing about Multi Snow Plow X-Line?

– In my world, it is very versatile. It can be used for both ice ripping and ploughing, it depends on which cutting edge you use. The fact that the wings can move vertically means that I can have the main blade on the street and the wings on the sidewalk. This means that I can take all the snow with me at once without leaving anything behind or backtracking and retracing the same route.

- Before I used Siljums Multi Snow Plow X-Line, I always ploughed with a rigid blade. With the Multi Snow Plow, I save a lot of time thanks to its size and flexibility. But it's not just about saving time, but also that I can do so much more with the same equipment and drive with a completely different precision where it's tight, emphasizes Bertil.

What is it like to start using a Multi Snow Plow?

– It is intuitive. If you have previously driven with a normal plough blade, you can drive a Multi Snow Plow. But you have to keep an eye on the surroundings and the conditions regardless of the type of plough.

Powerful precision work tool

- The Multi Snow Plow is, in my eyes, the most flexible plough you can have. It can be used everywhere. I am ploughing and ice ripping both in the city and at surfaces in industrial areas. Even though I have the very largest plough, the 5400 X-Line, it is agile for its size. I get through where it's just under three meters wide and can fold out the wings so it's almost 5.5 meters wide.

– Thanks to the maneuverable wings, I can shape the plough and use it with great precision. The weight of the plough also provides good ground pressure. For ploughing, I don't need any other implement.

Multi Snow Bucket for snow clearing

Hägglunds Last & Schakt today owns two Siljum Multi Snow Plow 5400 X-Line, a Siljum Ice ripper bucket and a Siljum Multi Snow Bucket D-edition. The equipment is used frequently and which tool is used is governed by the need.
– The Multi Snow Bucket is perfect when, for example, we clean away and remove snow with a truck or in environments where there is no space. The Multi Snow Plow X-Line is used for all types of ploughing.

When Björkdalsgruvan, 20 miles northwest of Skellefteå, invested in a new bucket, they chose a 9.2 cubic metre Eslöv bucket. Lars Karlsson at Björkdalsgruvan says that the bucket is specially equipped with RaptorPlate wear plates, the Cat Advansys tooth system and an extended width.

Lundgrens Schakt appreciates the simplicity and safety of the G-Lock quick coupler. When Pierre Lundgren, owner of Lundgrens Schakt AB in Tidaholm, Sweden, received an assignment from Veidekke, the prerequisite was that the excavator should be equipped with a safe coupler that fulfils the safety requirements. The choice fell on Götene's new G-Lock quick coupler.
